One issue I usually have with ordering lenses is red lenses because I need them with prescription. A few months back they were a bit harder to find but nowadays it’s a bit easier to find them with prescription. I asked a friend of mine about them who recommended me to Geo-Lens House, a Facebook group.

I ended up ordering from i.Fairy in Hanabi Red. Just a note that their prescription number is written differently than in America. For example, my prescription is (-4.25. -4.25) but theirs is written as 425.

I ordered from them in April 27th and they didn’t ship until 2 days later. The lenses overall were okay. They’re vibrant but my bigger issue was the size of the lenses and the overall look. Not to sound racist to myself, but my eyes are smaller compared to other people’s eyes, so in some images, the lenses looked like it would engulf my entire eye (that and shadowing in images).

In terms of the overall look, unlike my green or blue lenses, the color does not begin outside the pupil, the color starts a few mm after that, so your own personal eye color WOULD become a factor in this. Brown isn’t so bad, but if you had blue eyes or something, it would be very obvious. You’d see your pupil, then blue eyes, then red ring. That’s probably the best way to describe it, it’s a ring around your eye.

Rating: ★★★☆☆/ 3 out of 5.

Pros:
– Tracking number provided.

Cons:
– Shipping was a bit slow.

Price: $17.00 + $1.81 tax + $11.90 shipping = $30.71
Time for Arrival: 20 days.

Would I order from them again? Maybe, if I really couldn’t find other place or I was ordering more lenses because I realized their shipping is quite high. But you can find them here.

When I cosplay, I normally strive for accuracy over aesthetics. One of the important pieces of a cosplay that not many people think of or do is eye color. The characters I cosplay tend to have the general blue or green eyes. While I normally wear green or blue in Dolly brand, I wanted to try some new lenses and they were about to expire.

I believe I stumbled upon the website through a cosplay friend who had posted about the site. The blue and green ones that seemed more promising were Blue 2 and Green 2. They also had images people submitted of what the lenses looked like which was pretty helpful, plus the lenses came in prescription.

The shipping time was fairly reasonable and they do provide a tracking number. I do like how the lenses came out. They are not as vibrant as the Dolly brand ones I normally used, but they were more natural looking. I think my only issue is that after a few pictures, the green isn’t as vibrant as I would have liked. They do come out in pictures, but in certain pictures I had taken, they didn’t appear very bright.

Rating: ★★★★☆/4 out of 5

Pros:
– Tracking number provided.
– Lenses looked very natural.

Cons:
– Green lenses aren’t as vibrant as blue lenses.

Price: $19.99 (Blue) + $19.99 (Green) + $4.50 shipping – $2.99 discount = $41.49
Time for Arrival: 13 days.

Would I order from them again? Yes. You can purchase the lenses here.

I ordered from this seller before and I really liked their wigs so I ordered from them again. This time I ordered a wig for Paddra Nsu-Yeul from Final Fantasy XIII-2 and to revamp my Kurama from Yu Yu Hakusho wig.

One thing I learned is that, not all eBay sellers TELL YOU that they provide the tracking number. In my last purchase I ordered 4 wigs. (Two from cosplaydna2009, one from cosplayanimewigs and huangleijing_996.) They ALL provided tracking numbers, but I usually don’t check if it doesn’t say it in the “Updates” e-mail you receive. However I discovered if you go to the eBay Order Details for your purchases, some do provide tracking numbers. In my case, they all did, they just didn’t e-mail me to tell me.

When I saw the Kurama wig, usually the wig is wrapped in a black mesh, which ALWAYS throws me off. It doesn’t help that the lighting in my room is poor so I thought the wig was more of a burgundy color. But I found it to be a beautiful deep red. The fibers are super soft and I absolutely love the quality. While I still like the color of my original wig, I absolutely loved the quality of my new Kurama wig~

Rating: ★★★★★/ 5 out of 5.

Pros: – Tracking number provided. – Came with free wig cap per wig.

Cons:- None.

Price: $25.60 (Silver/Grey) + $22.40 (Red) + free shipping = $48.00
Item Location: China.
Time for Arrival: 11 days.

If you would like to purchase this wig, you can search “153 New Long Dark Red Cosplay Party Wavy Wig,” “088 New Long silver gray Cosplay Party Wig 100cm,” or check out cosplaydna2009’s eBay profile.

I was originally planning on cosplaying Lightning from the new Final Fantasy XIII-2 for.. AnimeNEXT(?) and then for Otakon, but those plans fell through. Anyways, I purchased her wig back in April 20th.

I paid on April 20th, and they didn’t ship it out until a week later. I received the wig on May 6th (approximately 16 days) and it turns out that they mailed me a Serah wig instead. So I promptly e-mailed them back telling me they gave me the wrong wig. It was very back and forth which annoyed me a bit. They wanted to resolve the issue because they didn’t want me to give them bad feedback. In the end they sent me a new wig. But this time they didn’t send me a tracking number.

18 DAYS LATER. I still had not received my wig, so I e-mailed them again. They replied with some crackpot excuse about how because of the volcano in Iceland delaying/losing the shipment. Then had the audacity to offer 20$ as compensation FOR NOW, and if I received the wig to give it back. How about you give me my wig in the first place, I live in the US, under no circumstances would the wig be shipped anywhere near Iceland to begin with. Besides, I paid nearly 40$ for this wig, I was getting this wig. So I angrily responded back because I had begun to wonder if they were coming up with a ridiculous excuse to not send me this wig.

Anyways, they apologized saying they thought I was from the UK, because someone in the UK ordered the same wig, and said they sent me my wig 2 weeks ago. Then they kept e-mailing me about how if I don’t get it in the next week, that they’ll send me a new one by EMS, and how they are an honest seller, even going and sending me a picture of the wig they supposedly shipped. A day later I calmed down and told them I still wanted the wig. They said they would send one again with a tracking number. Although they sent it to me the first time with a tracking number, so I was a little confused as to why they didn’t send one to me the second time (unless they didn’t send it to begin with).

In the end I did get that wig within 8 days. It was pretty, but looked absolutely nothing like the reference picture. But you know, I got the wig and I didn’t want to even bother arguing with them anymore. The image on the right is what I was SUPPOSED to get. The picture at the bottom is a more accurate shot of what I received.

Pro:
– Tracking number given.
– Mailed out new wig.
– Good quality wigs.

Con:
– Wrong wig entirely.
– Looked nothing like the reference image.
– Had to sign for it.

Price: $37.99 + free shipping.
Item Location: Hong Kong.
Time for Arrival: 8 days. (After re-mailing)

Would I order from them again? Very debatable. The wig was good quality, but it was such a hassle trying to get the right wig. Although if you get the right wig to begin with, I think you’re set! If you wish to purchase this wig, search “Final Fantasy 13 LIGHTNING Pink wavy wig cosplay wigs” in the eBay search bar or look through koreahomme’s ebay profile.

New York Comic Con is coming up and I needed a wig for Alisa Bosconovitch from
Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion. Her hair is two different colors, one side is light pink and the other side is more of a magenta color. My plan was to buy a light pink wig, one that was slightly longer, cut the length, make that into wefts, and then sew them into the wig so there is that part in the hair. For the magenta color, instead of buying magenta colored wefts, I decided to custom color it. There will be a tutorial on that later on.

After receiving the wig and upon further inspection, I realized the quality of the wig isn’t that great. You could see the netting through the hair and near the bangs there was glue in the fibers (?). I’m hoping it won’t be AS BAD after I weft the excess and style it.

Rating: ★★☆☆☆/ 2 out of 5.

Pros:
– Fast shipping.
– Super soft fibers.

Cons:
– No tracking number.
– Netting can be seen.
– Poor quality, fibers fall out.

Price: $16.99 + Free Shipping.
Item Location: Hong Kong
Time for Arrival: 11 days.

Would I purchase from them again? Probably not.

cosplay, illiying123, neon genesis evangelion, rei ayanami, review, wig

One of my friends wanted to shoot Rei Ayanami for AnimeNEXT so I bumped her up on my list. And since the date is rapidly approaching, I bought her wig yesterday. Out of all the wigs I saw, this one was the best one I found that actually resembled the character’s hair. Now, when I originally purchased from this seller, I saw that they had 10,000+ good feedback and they’ve been selling for 3 years. So I decided to order it, and it was also pretty cheap.

I bought this wig on April 3rd. Two days later, I received an e-mail from the eBay Loss Prevention Department. Apparently, the seller got shut down! I have to admit, I’m pretty peeved, since I ordered this wig at the same time I ordered my FFX-2 Yuna wig, and that wig arrived yesterday. Nevertheless, I’m going to try to keep an open mind on this.

I e-mailed the user and they said eBay shut them down for suspicious activities. Anyways, they said they are still shipping my wig and I should have received a tracking number, which I did, which I received when I asked for it. As of now, (4/13/11), the USPS says “Origin Post is Preparing Shipment.”

4/20/11: So I received the wig today. The quality is not bad. The seller delivered as promised, so I’m not angry about eBay shutting them down. I’m still a little peeved about it, but I got my wig so I have no complaints. The wig itself, like I said, is okay. The fibers actually fell everywhere. So it’s not the best quality, but the wig fits, the color is good.

Rating: ★★☆☆☆/ 2.5 out of 5.

Pros:
–  Tracking number included.

Cons:
– Long shipping.
– Fibers are very loose, poor quality.

Price: 13.99$ + free shipping.
Item Location: China.
Time for Arrival: 17 days!

The wig is called, “New Evangelion light blue Short Cosplay Hair Wig CW183.”

But would I order from them again? Considering they’re now closed on eBay and the quality of the wig, probably not.

cosplay, final fantasy x, review, rixinyueyi9898, tutorial, wig, yuna

As you know, or don’t know, I’ll be cosplaying Final Fantasy X Yuna (summoner) this year! I planned on debuting her earlier at SpringFest this Saturday, so last week I ordered her wig.

The wig came out a lot curlier than the image (which isn’t an issue). The fibers were really soft. The wig is a bit darker than I had anticipated and wanted for Yuna, but in the light it looks lighter.

The only possible issue I could have with it, is that on the website, it says the fibers were Kanekalon, but then on the tag the wig came with, it says it was synthetic fibers. Not that it mattered either way for me because the fibers were super soft. I’m not sure if it was because it wasn’t as thick as my other wigs, but it hardly tangled. There was virtually no tangle with this wig.

What I liked about this wig, and the reason I chose it is that the color looks very natural that it has highlights and such. Nothing too noticeable, but you can tell it’s not just one straight color.

Rating: ★★★★☆/ 4.5 out of 5.

Pro:
– Great quality.
– Quick shipping.
– Came with a free wig cap.
– Soft fibers.

Con:
– No tracking number.
– Not heat resistant.
– Fibers were teased under the bangs so it got itchy after wearing for a while.

Price: 24.30$ + free shipping. (It was 10% off.)
Item Location: China.
Time for Arrival: 10 days.

Would I order from them again? Yes.

If you wish to purchase this wig, search “1813 New long Light Brown Fashion Wavy Wig” in the eBay search bar or look through rixinyueyi9898’s ebay profile.

barbie eye, circle lenses, kurama, review

So I needed some green contact lenses for my Kurama cosplay (which I wore a few posts ago). When it comes to buying circle lenses online. There are a lot of people who sell them online. I’m not saying all of them are reliable, but you can find a lot of sellers. Some sell them really cheap, some more expensive.

I hate to say it, but it’s sort of luck sometimes when you order them. Unless it’s from a reliable website. Other times, you have people selling them on websites such as Facebook.

The ones I wore are Dolly Eye Green. I ordered them from Ceramic Barbie on Facebook. Her group can be seen here. One reason I ordered from her is that she has a lot of good feedback. The lenses are.. not cheap haha. But, you get what you paid for. I previously had one bad experience with circle lenses, but this time I didn’t.

This girl is a real sweetheart. She replied quickly and was very patient with me when I had a lot of questions. She also includes a free contact lens case. I would definitely recommend buying from her, unless you’re one of those people who are skeptical about buying from Facebook or something. But that can’t be helped.

The only con I can think of is shipping, which really wasn’t that big of a deal for me since I ordered long beforehand. She orders by batches, and then has to order from the company, wait for them to ship it to her before she can ship it out. So if you need the lenses within a week, this probably isn’t the place to look haha.

Pros:
–  Excellent service.
– Quick reply.
– Very patient.

Cons:
–  Have to wait for batch to be over & for company to ship over lenses.

Price: 25$ = free shipping.

Would I order in the future? Most likely ^^

cosplay, hatsune miku, review, superoulet-2009, wig

I needed a wig for a Miku Hatsune “Magnet” cosplay. My friend and I are going to cosplay as Miku x Luka from Vocaloid 2 for this cosplay picnic next weekend. I was basically frantically searching for a wig last week because sometimes shipping takes around 2 weeks, more so because the wigs I tend to like are overseas in Asia.

I debated on getting a straight wig to put pigtails in (probably not the best idea) or to just buy the wig in the pigtails by itself (usually sold as a combination of a short wig and long pigtail clips). The issue with the latter is it would be more expensive, almost double the cost of a straight wig. I fell in love with this particular wig.

I pieced together some pictures from the product page. Usually when I buy wigs, I want to make sure they are heat resistant. You never know when you need to straighten/curl a wig.

This is the reference picture on the right. It’s always a little tricky with Miku wigs, because in some songs, her hair is a darker or lighter shades than other songs.

Looking back on it, I sort of wish I got this one for only 45$ + free shipping. But a partial reason I didn’t want to get it was because I don’t know many cosplays with a bob haircut in that particular color. And what would I do with blue colored pigtails by itself anyways?

Anyways, I had a positive experience with this seller. I ordered on July 25th, they shipped it the next day. I received it on August 2nd, so I got it within a week ^^ The shipping on eBay said 1-2 weeks.

I really love the quality and color of the wig. I didn’t receive a wig cap like they said would come with it (as a free gift). But I already had a wig cap prior to this so it wasn’t a huge deal for me. I won’t go complain about it xD The one thing I was more interested in getting was the wig brush which I’m glad I have. It’s so much easier to comb a wig now.

The quality is not bad. I’m not sure what type of fibers they use, because they don’t list it. But it has sort of a chalky feeling, if that makes any sense. It doesn’t feel like real hair like my red Kurama wig did. I wish I could upload a photo of me wearing it, but my camera makes the wig color look blue.

Rating: ★★★☆☆/ 3.5 out of 5.

Pros:
– Fair quality.
– Shipped quickly.
– Wonderful color, matches image.
– Heat resistant.
– Comes with a wig brush [and wig cap].

Cons:
– No tracking number.
– Didn’t receive a wig cap when it was listed.
– Has that synthetic feel.
– Occasionally photographs blue.

Price: 22.69$ + 9.99$ shipping = 32.68$
Item Location: South Korea

Would I purchase from them again? That’s debatable. I didn’t like the feel of it, and it tangles easily. I would have to really really love the color and not have been able to find it somewhere else. The wig color I received is not as bright as the one in the reference image, but it’d probably look be better in a brighter light. And you can’t expect the color to be 100% exact as the image on the screen xD

If you wish to purchase this wig, search “GREEN BLUE Long straight cosplay party wig B207 F7G” in the eBay search bar, or look through superoulet-2009’s eBay profile.

cosplay, cosplayanimewigs, ebay, kurama, review, test, yu yu hakusho

My first year cosplaying and I needed a wig for my Kurama cosplay. This was my first time ordering a wig so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I am very particular when it comes to details and colors. I wanted the perfect color for a Kurama wig and one that looked realistic, because his hair color is bright to begin with. I found one that I particularly liked.

Here’s the reference image of Kurama. I picked this one because it’s slightly darker than normal.

The wig I stumbled upon is from cosplayanimewigs.

I didn’t mind that it was curly because it was heat resistant as well. I prefer them to be heat resistant anyways because you never know when you need to straighten it, or curl it again.

I had a positive experience with this seller. The wig I received was a lot curlier than in this picture.

The color is almost exactly like the one in the picture. I really love the quality of it as well. It’s soft and feels like real human hair. They said it’s “Natural Heat Resistant Fiber.”

The shipping was fairly quickly as well. They shipped it on May 6th. I can’t remember the exact date I received it, but around the 14th, so it took about a week.

Rating: ★★★★☆/ 4.5 out of 5

Pros:
– Excellent Quality
– Shipped quickly
– Wonderful color, matches image
– Heat resistant
– Feels soft, like actual human hair.

Cons:
– No tracking number

Price: 32.99$ + free shipping = 32.99$
Item Location: Shanghai, China

Would I purchase from them again? Yes, I definitely would. I love the quality of wig and the way it looks.

If you wish to purchase this wig, search “Copper Red Hi-Temp Long Curly Wavy Cosplay Wig” in the eBay search bar, or look through cosplayanimewigs’s profile page.

EDIT (2/14/2011): I get asked questions about this wig all the time. As far as I know, the eBay seller I bought it from doesn’t sell it anymore. I sent them an e-mail asking if they sell it and I will update the reply! (You can find the same wig on their eBay, but the image is different, and the wig is a darker red.) If you searched the wig, you’ll find another seller that uses the same image as the one I bought it from. (Even the same watermark..) I can’t comment on the wig because I’ve never ordered from their store. Just make sure you check the name when you search it! The store I purchased from was “CosplayAnimeWigs.” The store that has the same image is “CosplayAnimeWig.”

EDIT (2/19/2011): I received a reply from the seller, and they said that there had been a listing error. The same wig can be purchased at the website! Located here. Click here for the wig link!
